The Joybells orphanage and school foundation are a not for profit charity, and were in need of a new website that they could have complete control over.
Their original website, like many out there, was built in a static HTML, meaning that they either had to learn to become web designers in order to change any of the content, or add videos etc, or they had to get people like us to do it for them.
So building a new website into a CMS was the obvious option for them. After looking into the charity, how it works and what they want to achieve, we were able to come up with a plan for them, that I’m fairly certain surpassed their original expectations of what the new website could do.
The Joybells charity not only raises money for the orphanage in Gangtok, Northern India, but it also recruits people, often Gap year students or people taking a career break to go out and work at the orphanage and help teach the children. With that in mind, we wanted to be able to give the people working in the country to tell us about their experience, upload their photos and videos, and give the site the fresh content coming in from lots of different directions.
With that in mind, the CMS that we chose to develop the website using, allows us to control the website users, so that access to certain areas can be restricted if needed. This also means that it is incredibly easy for website authors to add only the content that they require, and don’t have to get bogged down with areas that will not work for them.
The beauty of this website is that it can grow infinitely with time. The Joybells team will rarely have to come back to us to make changes to the website. This is what good CMS web design should be like. As it has for Joybells, it should give you the ability to really run your own website!
Good luck to all of the Joybells Team and all of the good work you are doing in India.
