Once your web site has been built for you, you will need to concern yourself with how you will bring traffic to your web site (if your website design company are not providing marketing services for you). If people don’t visit your web site then your web site will ultimately fail. That is why web site promotion is vitally important to your web sites overall survival. You can increase web traffic by simply implementing a proper marketing strategy that successfully advertises and introduces your web site to the world.

Just because you have have launched your web site doesn’t mean that people know about it. You have to make a conscious effort to introduce your web site to the masses and to entice them to come to your website. You must have a drawing purpose that makes people want to come to your website not once but time and time again.

Many web site companies (or Digital Marketing Agencies like us) actually offer web site promotion by default. One of the most effective ways to properly promote a web site is to first have it appear in search engines. If you operate a web site that offers information and products related to “weight loss,” then you want your web site to appear in Google each and every time a person search the terms: weight loss. This can only be acquired through proper web site promotion.

Web site promotion will increase web traffic to your domain which in turn will bring you in more money if you do in fact offer products or services. Even if you are running a web site that simply makes money via advertisements, web site promotion will still increase your finances due to the fact that you are paid with ad revenue based programs based on views to your website.

Digital Marketing Agencies and web site design companies that offer web site promotion will submit your website to all popular search engines and for an additional fee the majority of them can further advance your web sites promotion through various programs.

If you truly desire to increase web traffic to your web site you will need to take great care in selecting a company to work with. Remember that it is quality traffic that you are trying to achieve, not quantity.

There is potential for you to make a living from running a single website. However, in order for that dream to become a reality people must know about your website and want to return to it time and time again. If you offer a specific service or product you will want people to know that you offer that service and product and you will want them to choose you over all other like companies on the World Wide Web. However, this can only be obtained through proper web site promotion.

There’s always a quest for new and innovative ways of promotion that promise greater results at lower cost and in shorter time. Yet with all the efforts spent on promotion it’s just amazing how many people totally ignore one basic question- is their website worth promoting? With new computer technologies and high speed connections the new age on the Internet has arrived- the age that redefined the criteria of a successful web site, which satisfies demands of its visitors.

Content is King.

That was the mantra of all web masters for a long time. Just show your visitors some interesting stuff, give them a better deal – and your success is guaranteed. The truth is – it doesn’t work that way. The content alone cannot win you the hearts and minds of your potential customers. It’s just a part – though a very important one- of building your image on the Internet. You can say whatever you want about yourself on your web site: that your company provides the best services, the best expertise, the best…. whatever. But people won’t buy it if you don’t come across in the right way. That is you look trustworthy and professional enough to believe you. And that’s the point where we come to the importance of keeping your web site up to your customers’ expectations.

Numbers don’t lie

Your web site might not have changed for several years. But the Internet has been changing. The latest surveys show that people’s online expectations have skyrocketed over the last few years and they’re quick to reject any web site that doesn’t keep up. Besides easy navigation and use, people want and expect a site to load quickly and to be visually appealing. If a web site doesn’t meet their expectations, two-thirds of respondents say they don’t return — ever.
What this means? Having a bad web site means loosing customers- plain and simple. When people see your web site in bad shape they assume that you don’t care about your image or don’t have the money or resources to maintain it.

What is a good web site?

A good web site should provide your visitors and potential clients with a unique experience and leave them with a lasting impression. In many ways people react to that the same way as meeting a person. Sometimes the first impression makes all the difference. Ask yourself- would you place an order via a web site that looks like its owners went out of business years ago? Probably not….

It takes a lot of things to make a web site effective but here are some basics:

First a good design. Nice clean layout, good graphics, color coordination. Everything is supposed to be in place and, no less important, in balance. An excessive use of graphic elements, for example, can ruin your web site’s look, besides making it difficult to download and view.

Your web site should also be informative. But don’t think that more information is better. The word “informative” in that sense implies more “educational” than “descriptive”. Educate your website’s visitors about your company and its services. Make your content easy to read and understandable. Don’t overload your visitors with technical details or self advertising stuff or they won’t read it at all.

Another important thing is navigation. Make it easy to understand. Some people get too fancy with that, which makes even experienced web surfers wonder how to get around their web site. Keep it simple and the web site structure logical- so the visitors can easily go from A to B and access information they need.

There are a lot of other issues that you have to keep in mind, like personalisation, browser compatibility, and of course search engine optimisation – but we won’t cover them right now.

What you can do to make your web site better.

1. Give your website a critical eye. Encourage your visitors to send you their comments and suggestions (at least you’ll show that you care). Compare it to the web sites of your competitors.

2. Analyze the results. See what most people do and don’t like about your web site. Think about how to enhance your strong points and to eliminate your deficiencies.

3. Find the solution. If you can improve your web site yourself- great! But don’t overestimate your abilities. If you want an attractive, well designed site that stands out, go to professionals- the people with experience and special knowledge in this field. Let them do that work while you can concentrate on the most important thing –running your business.

4. If you decided to seek professional help, don’t hurry and use your gift of common sense. Shop around, but don’t necessary go for the lowest price. Price is a big factor, but not the only one. You don’t want to end up with a cheap web site that you’ll have to change again sooner rather than later. Before striking a deal, do your homework. Do your best to find out more about the web design company (or a designer) that you’ll work with. First of all visit their web site- if you’re not impressed, go away. If they can’t do it right for themselves- how they can do it right for you? Second, ask them to show their portfolio- see what they can do for their clients. Third, don’t be shy to ask for testimonials. See if they work closely with clients and respond well to their requests.

And always remember- your website is the face of your company. Leaving it in bad shape can really damage your image and turn away many of perspective customers.

On the web, the first and foremost goal of all businesses is to get targeted web site traffic. Search engine optimization is the best method that can deliver such results in a natural way. In general, pay per click advertising could also bring such results for you, but it will cost you and as soon as you stop paying, your ads will stop showing up.

On the contrary, the type of targeted traffic you get from search engines in a natural way remains there in search engine result pages for a long time, even after you stop paying for the SEO service.

What’s Targeted Website Traffic?

Every marketing campaign is supposed to define its particular goals. When an online business seeks lots of visitors, it should plan for the exact type of visitors it desires to attract to its site. This is done when they plan to get targeted website traffic. They decide what type of people should come to their site and why.

At the earliest stage of search engine optimisation process, a keyword research is performed to discover what phrases people search for to find the kind of products and services such business owners have. Then, after lots of keyword analysis, a group of phrases (usually more than 3 words each) are selected that indicate more inclination toward what such a website is offering. These keyphrases are grouped and prioritised to be used for various parts of the site.

Here’s an example of how to get targeted web site traffic: Suppose your site is selling properties in the UK and you have intended to increase your website traffic in a smart way. There are several categories in a real estate website for buying and selling like Houses, Apartments and so on. The visitors you’d like to attract to an important page of your site are those who would want to buy Apartments. If you manage to get these people to that particular page of your site, you’ve managed to get targeted web site traffic to your site.

How to Achieve Such a Goal?

Everything depends on the keyphrase you choose for this page and then optimising one of your pages for it. The phrase should be what a buyer may think of while searching. So, from among several similar phrases, you may be convinced that “buying apartments” is the closest one. Well, obviously it is more narrowed than “apartments” or even “buying properties”, but it should be more precise and to the point. Besides, the more words we have in a keyphrase, such a phrase will be more likely to attract the same visitors we want. So, we add the location to it too.

As the company is in the UK, “buying apartments in the UK” is better than the previous phrase. Sometimes, there could even be more specific word to use within the same number of words. For instance, if you’re selling the apartments in Bath, and people use this word in their searches at various engines like Google, Bing, etc, why not replace UK with it?

So, the phrase that helps you get targeted web site traffic to the specific page of your site will be: “buying apartments in Bath”. This is how keyword research can play an important role in getting targeted web site traffic for your site.

One of the main differences between a blog and a static website is the way people are able to interact with your content. With a static site it’s just people reading words on a page. When you have a blog they can explore and even comment back! You want to get that sort of interactive spirit going so you can create a loyal readership with your blog.

That doesn’t mean it’s easy! There are literally millions of blogs out there all vying for the attention of your audience. It can be even harder to grab people’s attention when you’re just getting started. The bad news is that it’s going to take some work and dedication to build up a loyal readership. The good news is that it’s very possible, and even fun, to put these things into place. Follow these rules and you’ll have the kind of repeat visitors and fans that really make blogging worth your while.

Rule #1: Write Great Content

Let’s face it; if your content stinks there is no way people are going to come back and read again! They’ll just click away, never to return. If you write great content, however, you’re sure to get some fans. Not everyone considers themselves to be a good writer. That’s OK! No one expects you to have perfect grammar and spelling. It’s far more important that you write interesting content that stands out from the crowd. Give your real thoughts and opinions on things that matter to the audience.

When you write great content, not only will you have people who want to visit your blog all the time. They will also link to you! You know that more linking means higher rankings in Google. That’s definitely a great thing that will expand your readership base to levels you couldn’t even imagine when you got started.

Rule #2: Leave the Comments Open

It’s amazing — but there are bloggers out there who close their comments! While it can be a lot of work to try and get rid of those spam comments, you’re also missing out on a big part of what being a blogger is all about. You need to let the audience write back and speak their mind too. People don’t just want a website they can read anymore, they want one they can add their “2 cents” to. So, leave your comments open and listen to them. It doesn’t matter if people always agree with you or not (they won’t!), you’ll get a much larger and interested following.

Rule #3: Guest Blog

The chances are good that there are some blogs out there that are very well-liked by the people in your niche. These blogs probably get a lot of traffic and a lot of respect. It’s time to get your name and website out there in front of this audience! All you need to do is write to the owner and say that you’d like to write some guest posts. They will probably be more than happy to take a break from their own posting and to give you a link back to your blog. This will not only give you link juice for the search engines, you’ll also win some of their loyal readers who are interested in what you have to say.

Learning how to create a loyal readership with your blog is incredibly important if you want your blog to thrive. It’s all about the people, and making sure they are aware of your blog and love your content.

A domain name can make or break a website and choosing an effective domain name is not something that should be taken lightly.

A good domain name is an important part to developing a great website.

Good domain names incorporate the following attributes:

Short

Memorable, or Catchy

Different to any immediate competitors

Easy to spell

Let’s drill down on these principals and give you some examples.

Short:

Having a short domain name is preferable, but not all ways practical. As an example www.egg.com is a short domain name, but causes confusion as to what the website will be if the domain is seen with no other form of marketing.

The extreme reversal of this is: http://thelongestlistofthelongeststuffatthelongestdomainnameatlonglast.com/

This is a ridiculously long domain name, however, it does describe (in some way) what the website will be about. This domains downfall (as with many long domains) is trying to write this in the address bar will probably lead to typos and the website not being found.

Memorable/Catchy:

Having a domain name that is memorable or catchy will certainly help. It is easy to remember and will be more likely to be dropped into conversation. Often these types of domain names will not give the user any idea of what the website is about. A few examples of memorable names are probably ones that you have already heard of:

www.youtube.com

www.twitter.com

www.facebook.com

Different to any immediate Competitors:

You wouldn’t want your domain to be too similar to any others websites, especially if they are immediate competitors. An example of bad usage of domain name similarity:

www.webdesigner.com

www.webdesigners.com

These two totally separate companies’ domain names are very similar. If choosing a domain similar in nature to this domain I would highly recommend buying the domain with plurals as well as all top level domain variations, such as .co.uk, .com, .net etc

Easy to Spell:

Domains should be easy to spell and not have too many different phonetic variations. When a website has been up and running for a while you should be able to see from the website statistics exactly what your website visitors are typing in to find you.

An example of a very successful business that doesn’t help itself on the spelling front is Vodafone.

Vodafone realised that lots of people were typing www.vodaphone.com into their address bar and not getting to the website, so what did they do? Bought vodaphone.com and redirect all traffic to the correct www.vodafone.com website.

In future posts we will go onto discuss the different types of TLD’s (Top Level Domain’s) and their uses as well as choosing domains from an SEO

perspective.

We had already created them a fabulous looking logo, but the company have decided to take things one step further and have us build them a website.

We cant reveal too much just yet, but we can say that we are going all out on this web build. It will be built into our flagship CMS (Content Management System) enabling the Melmasti Air team to grow their online presence with ease.

I can also say that from the initial design concepts that we are putting together that this could well be the best looking website we will have created to date!

So lastly, thanks to the Melmasti Air team for jumping on-board with Aspect-Webdesign. We are sure this will be the start of a successful working relationship together.

Captain Mark Hale was originally Justin’s first CSM (Company Sergeant Major) when he joined the Army. Captain Hale was an extremely fit and outgoing soldier. He was killed on Operations in Afghanistan, whilst evacuating a wounded Soldier.

His brother, Kevin Hale, has created The Undentable Trust to raise funds for:

Help For Heroes in establishing a rehabilitation center in Tidworth

The Rifles own Benevolent Fund

The Royal British Legion in providing a respite and adventure breaks for Children of serving or ex serving soldiers

We decided to jump on board and will be designing and managing the Website for The Undentable Trust. We hope to get involved in some of the challenges and raise lots of money for the trust, and to preserve Mark’s legacy.

We have been asked to design an E-commerce website for world famous wildlife cameraman Martyn Colbeck. Martyn has won numerous awards and his cinematography frequently appears on TV programs such as Planet Earth and other BBC productions.
Although the majority of work that Martyn does is film based, this website will show case some of his stills collection.

These photos can currently be found in exhibitions and art galleries across the country.

This website will now give people the chance to learn more about Martyn and to purchase some of his work directly on line.

We hope that this website will be up and running by the middle of November, slightly longer than it would normally take us to create a website, however Martyn has now left the country on another filming expedition to some where slightly more exotic than our design studio!!!
